About Rio Casa
Rio Casa located on the main stem of the Brazos River, at the upper end of Lake Whitney, about 50 miles southwest of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The Dallas Morning News Readers’ Poll recognizes Whitney Lake as the best fishing lake in Texas. This is based upon the quality of fishing, aesthetics and size of the water body. Whitney Lake also ranks as the second most popular destination lake in Texas by the same poll. This poll is based upon the aesthetics of the lake, the quality of lakeside recreational facilities and the overall recreational experience. Whitney Lake averages 1.3 million visitors per year, 80% of which are from the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
Because of the consistently smooth water, the Brazos River portion of Whitney Lake above Kimball Bend Park is recognized by Water Skiers’ Magazine as one of the top 10 water skiing areas in Texas. The narrow, tree-lined channel and high limestone bluffs offer protection from the wind even on the most blustery days. These same attributes combined with sandy beaches also make this area extremely popular with fishermen and pleasure boaters.
